The fountain at Place Saint Michel next to the Île de la Cité was the meeting point each morning for tour groups heading off to venture around Versaille. Due to some unfortunately timed strike action, it would prove to be third time lucky until we would make it out to the old palace.
Early morning at the Île de la Cité was the usual mix of French daily life intertwined with intense tourist activity and the not so usual shenanigans of frogmen training in the Seine alongside the Pont Saint-Michel. Training for what? Who knows what frogmen get up to.
