Another year another win for Javier Gomez. He remains undefeated in the Auckland leg of the ITU World Triathlon Series after leaving Jonathan Brownlee in his wake on the final lap to avoid a repeat of 2012’s sprint finish.

Just as prominent was Tom Davison who single-handedly lead New Zealand’s #1 ranked Ryan Sissons to the main bike pack after he exited the water third to last. Sacrificing his own race so that Sissons could finish 6th and book his Commonwealth Games ticket, many rounds of drinks will be coming Davison’s way.
