Other lessons learnt from the Auckland Lantern Festival:

• People LOVE eating half a watermelon, slightly hollowed to hold some ice-cream. Ditto for half a pineapple, although I don’t know how people managed to eat that with a plastic spoon.
• It’s possible to buy a whole zoo of light up animals including a turtle orchestra.
• It’s possible to convert Princes St to feel like a night food stall scene from an Asian country. Probably not look like one though unless said Asian country experienced a flash mob of Caucasian people.
