Californian Redwoods were planted in Rotorua for their distinctive wood characteristics, however, the climate wasn’t ideal and only a small proportion of the original plantations remain roday. You can get up close and personal with them in the The Redwood Memorial Grove which surrounds the visitor centre. Within 50m of getting out of your car, you can be right here walking through these giants.
