Thinking ahead during a rain soaked Saturday, the chances of the Orewa Beach Half Marathon being an enjoyable event lay somewhere between poor to non-existant. Instead, Sunday morning delivered still, warm air and a bright orange sunrise for an impressively large field. While the old adage says “red sky in the morning, shepherds warning”, it’s fair to say that the good folk of Orewa live a different lifestyle to that of your average farmer, so, really, there was no need to worry on that account.
